Most common answer game: say what everyone says

Sky is one of the four daily games in Wonderhop. You get 7 questions such as "Name a food that a lot of people hate", and for each one you try to type the answer most players give. The more popular your answer, the higher you climb.

If you have watched Family Feud (Family Fortunes in the UK), you already know the idea: the best answer is not the cleverest one, it is the one the crowd agrees on. Here it is a short game for one person, played in your browser, with new questions every day.

How a Sky game works

Every day at midnight, Montreal time, everyone gets the same 7 Sky questions. You have 30 seconds per question and you type your answer freely: there are no multiple choices and no letters to fill in.

When you confirm, you see the share of players who gave your answer, along with a few other answers people gave. Your score for the day is the total of your 7 answers, and you can compare it with friends or on the leaderboard.

Where the percentages come from

Each question has a long list of possible answers. Before anyone plays it, every answer starts with an estimate of how many people would give it. Then the numbers move with real players' answers: the more people play a question, the more the percentages reflect what players actually typed.

Players in all 10 languages count in the same percentages, so the top answer is the one people share across countries, not just in one place.

How answers are rated

Each answer gets a rating: Perfect (in gold) for the top answer on the list, then Excellent, Great, OK and Weak. In Sky, Weak means your answer is real but not many people gave it.

A wrong or made-up answer is not rated at all: it is refused, and you can type another one while the timer runs. If time runs out, the question scores nothing.

Free typing, checked by an AI judge

If your answer is on the list, even with a small typo or in another form, it counts right away. If it is not, an AI judge checks whether it really answers the question.

When the judge refuses an answer, it explains why in one short sentence, so you can tell whether it was spelling, an answer outside the category, or something that does not exist. An accepted answer that is not on the list gets an estimated share, never above the top answer.

3 tips to find the most common answer

  1. Answer for the crowd, not for yourself. Your favourite is rarely the top answer. Ask what a tired person would say first, without thinking.
  2. Prefer the plain, general word. When a question allows both a broad word and a precise one, the broad one usually gathers more players, while specific names split the vote.
  3. Think beyond your own country. The same questions are played in 10 languages, so a local favourite can lose to something people everywhere know.

Questions

Is it like Family Feud?
A little. In Family Feud, families guess the answers a survey gave. Sky uses the same idea, but you play alone, every day, and type your own answers instead of facing a board.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
The 4 daily games are free, with no ads and no account. An optional Hop Pass unlocks the archives, to replay past days, and an unlimited mode.

Which languages can I play in?
English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish and Indonesian. Answers are accepted in the language you play in.
